Sand Dropseed (Sporobolus cryptandrus) is a hardy, warm-season bunchgrass that thrives in dry and sandy soils and puts on a delicate, wispy display of seed heads in summer. It’s perfect for erosion control, pollinator support, and adding a soft, natural feel to your landscape. Sand Dropseed is a slightly smaller cousin to Alkali Sacaton and grows in similar places. This airy grass is drought-tolerant, deer-resistant, and happy in poor soil and can even tolerate a bit of shade. Sand dropseed pairs well with many wild flowers including yarrow, penstemon, blanketflower and desert four-o'clock.
