Standing Ovation™ Serviceberry (Amelanchier alnifolia ‘Obelisk’) is a striking, upright selection of our beloved native serviceberry, offering beauty, habitat value, and edible abundance in one elegant package.
In early spring, it produces clusters of white flowers as the growing season begins. By early summer, the flowers mature into deep blue berries that are sweet, edible, and attractive to birds. In fall, the leaves turn shades of gold and orange, providing reliable seasonal color before winter.
‘Standing Ovation’ has a tall, narrow, columnar form, making it ideal for tighter spaces or privacy screens. It grows larger than Amelanchier utahensis, another Utah-native serviceberry, while offering similar ecological benefits. This selection performs beautifully on foothill slopes, in well-drained valley soils, or in irrigated areas where it receives occasional supplemental moisture.
Plant it alongside chokecherry, golden currant, or blue elderberry to create a layered native edible hedge that supports pollinators, feeds wildlife, and provides beauty across every season.
