White Sagebrush (Artemisia ludoviciana) is a dependable native perennial prized for its striking silvery foliage and wonderfully aromatic leaves. Its soft, velvety appearance provides beautiful contrast against green-leaved plants, colorful wildflowers, or ornamental grasses, making it an excellent choice for naturalistic landscapes, xeriscapes, and pollinator gardens. As it matures, it gradually spreads into attractive patches that help soften planting beds and fill difficult dry areas.
This is an exceptionally tough western native that thrives with little attention once established. Unlike some of its sagebrush cousins, its fragrant foliage is rarely sought after by deer. However its late-season flowers do provide a valuable nectar source for native bees and other beneficial insects. Whether used as an accent, mass planting, or naturalized groundcover, White Sagebrush brings texture, resilience, and year-round visual interest to water-wise landscapes.
