Wyoming Big Sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata ssp. wyomingensis) is a hardy, drought-tolerant shrub widespread in the Western US, commonly found at middle elevations. It typically grows 2 to 4 feet tall, making it more compact than Mountain Big Sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata ssp. vaseyana), which thrives at higher elevations and tends to be larger. Wyoming Big Sagebrush has narrow, gray-green leaves with a distinct three-lobed tip and produces small yellow flowers in late summer. Its deep root system allows it to survive in dry, rocky soils with minimal (or no) supplemental watering after establishment.
Wyoming Big Sagebrush thrives in well-drained soils and is highly adaptable, making it an excellent shrub choice for water-wise landscapes.
