Mojave Kingcup Cactus

Mojave Kingcup (Echinocereus mojavensis) is a compact, clumping native cactus with dense mounds of spiny stems and brilliant red-orange, cup-shaped flowers in late spring. Its strong form provides year-round structure, making it an excellent choice for rock gardens, xeriscapes, gravel gardens, and other dry landscapes where you want something architectural and exceptionally low maintenance.

Native to rocky landscapes of southern Utah and the surrounding Southwest, Mojave Kingcup is well adapted to sun, drought, and lean soils. Give it excellent drainage and room to slowly expand, and it can develop into an impressive, long-lived mound. Its showy spring flowers also attract pollinators, adding a burst of life and color to even the driest parts of the landscape.
