Palmer Penstemon (Penstemon palmeri), also known as Pink Wild Snapdragon, is one of the largest penstemon varieties, reaching up to 6 feet tall. Native to Southern Utah, it thrives in dry conditions but benefits from occasional irrigation, which can extend its bloom time. However, avoid overwatering, as this species is prone to soil-borne diseases in overly wet conditions. With its mild, pleasant fragrance, Palmer Penstemon attracts a variety of pollinators, including bumblebees, hummingbirds, and butterflies. As a prolific re-seeder, it is ideal for filling large, open areas or creating a striking backdrop in gardens behind shorter perennials and grasses.
