Silverton Bluemat Penstemon (Penstemon linarioides ssp. coloradoensis ‘Silverton Bluemat’) is a garden gem for sun-soaked rock gardens, xeric borders, or sunny pathways. Its low-sitting mats of silvery foliage stay green all year, bringing texture and winter interest, while bright lavender-blue blooms light up late spring and early summer. As a Plant Select® cultivar derived from native Penstemon linaroides ssp. coloradoensis found in south-east Utah, it offers exceptional landscape performance: rewarding bloom, tidy evergreen form, and remarkable resilience in hot, dry soils.
Plant it along stepping stones or in crevices where its neat evergreen mat can soften hard edges. Pollinators flock to its flowers, while deer and diseases leave it alone, making it a refined yet rugged choice for gardeners seeking beauty with ecological function in challenging sunny spots.
